I recently bought a '93 4runner and didn't plan on any crazy stereo equipment. I just wanted something that offered good sound quality, enough volume to hear my music clearly when riding with all the windows down and the sunroof open at highway speeds. As a bonus, this cd player is user friendly, plays mp3's, and has 2 auxiliary jacks. This head unit also offers very usable features regarding the tailoring of the sound. It delivers ample power for loud and clear listening that will satisfy all but the most die-hard audiophiles. The unit also comes with a single pair of pre-amp coaxial outputs for running an external amplifier. I think that this cd player offers the best compromise of cost and performance for those that just need a head unit to cover the basics, or for those that will add upgraded coaxial speakers and an amplified subwoofer. Obviously, this unit will not in any way compare to a high-end Alpine head unit, but at the price point that this player sits at, it is easily the best value in a head unit for under $100.
Don't be afraid to setup a modest sound system with this head unit. In my 4runner it sounded much better than the factory unit, even with the factory speakers. However, I was only so pleased, so I installed a pair of 4" replacement JVC and Cerwin-Vega co-axial speakers and a 10" jl audio subwoofer with a 150 watt RMS kenwood amp. I did the install myself in about 2 hours, and by looking for deals online, I have only around $200 invested in the whole system. By utilizing the cd player's high pass filter (HPF), I am able to get accurate midrange and treble reproduction, while letting the amplified subwoofer handle all the low frequencies. I am thoroughly satisfied with the setup, and the heart of it has been this JVC head unit. At these low prices, you have no excuse not to put one in any car you own.

Received this JVC unit last week and installed it in my old 95 Buick, thought I was buying a low end unit but when hooked up to the stock Concert series speakers I was very impressed with the sound.
Both radio and CD player sounded great and very easy to navigate.
Bought this on Amazon for $48 and would most definately recommend this to anyone looking for a no fuss with great sound installation, this unit is also Blue Tooth ready and come with a remote!

Easy install great style great over all. The price was great also ships quick. I love the color and style of this radio no need for a professional install its easy!!!!!
