The Plus One cone on the Kappa series provides more overall speaker-cone area than others in its class. With an effective increase in cone area, the speaker radiates more air. Also, the woven glass fiber woofer cone material produces a lighter and stiffer cone. The result is a better low-frequency response and a greater ability to make those important nearly tangible musical notes that people often associate with a larger speaker size.

Woven glass fiber woofer cone material is both extremely stiff and very light. This minimizes cone flex while allowing the cone to react quickly which yields very low distortion, improved clarity and deep low frequency response; all Infinity trademarks.
Edge-driven MMD dome tweeters
These are not commonly used W-domes, but fully edge driven domes like those found in fine home audio loudspeakers. This much larger voice coil increases power handling and provides better sonic integration with the mid-woofer. An edge-driven tweeter also has better dispersion characteristics and allows for a lower crossover frequency than comparable tweeters of its size, which improves imaging. The result is improved vocals and clarity in music.

True Four Ohm Impedance
All Kappa speakers feature two ohm voice coils. Original factory-installed speaker wiring in many cars is 18-22 gauge. This wire, and heating in the voice coil when power is applied, increase the impedance “seen” by the amplifier or head unit. The impedance of Kappa Speakers has been adjusted to compensate for this increase and provides more output than factory speakers or others in its class.
Computer-optimized, voice-matched outboard passive crossovers
The 693.9i’s are unique when compared to other traditional coaxial speakers as they feature an outboard crossover that has been voice-matched for flawless performance. In using an outboard crossover, the 693.9i is able to deliver much of the performance of a traditional component system without the need to cut or modify a vehicle for a separate tweeter. And since the crossover features only the best parts including including low-hysteresis polypropylene capacitors, low-loss air-core inductors and high-quality resistors you know you will be getting high-performance sound with incomparable clarity, detail and accuracy.
Adjustable, push-button tweeter level control
The Infinity Kappa 693.9i coaxial speakers feature 0-decibel and +3 decibel settings to custom-tune higher frequencies. Custom tuning allows users to optimize the sound for different in-vehicle locations. You can easily adjust the tuning by pushing a button on the passive crossover.

Many probably don't recognize the Harman name following Infinity, but they should instantly recognize Harman Kardon for high-end equipment. Yes, the Harman following Infinity is the same Harman that founded Harman Karden over fifty years ago and made the brand synonymous with the best to be found.
More than a few years back I had purchased a set of very good Kenwood KFC-X698 speakers. They were seldom used and only then with a Kenwood eXcelon headunit. That gave them a good break-in for another vehicle using a recent addition of a 4-channel Kenwood KAC-6404 amplifier - offering 40 watts of RMS power per channel in that car. I can say they really came alive for the first time in years - offering improved bass, sweeter highs, and clarity that even the most discriminating listener would appreciate.
Are the Infinity's better? The answer is a clear-cut yes! I paid less for the Infinity Kappa 693.9i speakers through Amazon than I paid for the KFC-X698 Kenwood speakers years back, and the Infinity's have a higher RMS wattage range that allows for the same clarity at higher volume. The 2-Ohm voice coil even gives the added advantage of allowing my X600F amplifier to run higher than its rated 100 RMS wattage power level for cleaner music boosts at high levels, and that added boost is welcome where these speakers are mounted. At lower levels there isn't that much difference between the Infinity's and the Kenwoods, but crank the headunits to one-quarter volume and the difference is amazing. Sure, there is a lot of difference between the amplifiers, but you've got to have speakers to match their power levels. With the same wattage output at 20 watts from the amplifiers, the Infinity Kappa speakers sound no different from the KFC-698 speakers. But, start raising the power level from there and these Infinity Kappa's set themselves apart as the Kenwoods start into increasing loss of clarity with each volume increase. The Infinity Kappa by Harmon are more solid in cage construction and materials use than even the newer KFC-X693 rated similarly to the Infinity speakers here. This better construction makes a huge difference in performance over many speakers by significantly reducing extraneous vibration.
There is no doubt the crossovers attached to the Kenwood KFC-X698 speakers work well, but the Infinity Kappa speakers also have their own crossovers that work just as well. The added tweeter boost feature and tilted feature on these Infinity Kappa speakers is more of a novelty to me, but it's a nice addition the Kenwoods don't offer. For the difference in price here at Amazon, the performance, and quality of construction, the Infinity Kappa 693.9i were a no brainer for selection with my system. I have excellent performance from them - and beyond what some other manufacturers have claimed for their speakers.
Into magnetic drivers? These Infinity Kappa use permanent ceramic magnets - probably Barium Ferrite (commonly used in subwoofers) which is heavy, more humidity stable, and corrosion resistant for long life.
Here's an added technical note -
I installed these speakers into the factory rear window deck designed for the OEM speakers. Original equipment vehicle manufacturers never seal the speakers in that position - but they should be. The reason is you are beating your speakers up everytime you open and shut the rear trunk - over pressuring them between the passenger area and the back trunk. The same thing happens when you shut a car door with all the windows up. Seal the backside of rear deck speakers air tight if at all possible - enclosed similar to sealed subs. You'll get better sound (cleaner bass) and longer life from the speakers.

I recommend this speakers, it has deep basses. and sound is clear too.I think it need only amplifier to be more powerful.

Installed in a Mazda RX-8. There is enough clearance so the speakers tweeters does not hit the deck lid. This speakers sound great right out the box when installed to the factory radio. They are louder than the factory speakers but the factory head unit does not provide enough power to properly enjoy the best this speakers can offer. I have a Sony XAV-701HD installed so it provides a little more power than the stock head unit and more sound settings options like crossover adjustment and listening positions. It is enough so far.
I feel that it reproduces the low frequencies better than the highs but it might be my radio settings. Nonetheless, highs and lows are very clear and accurate. Bass is accurate and I might not even need to add a sub. But it does not have deep bass and that is OK since these speakers are not designed for that.
On the other hand, this speakers beg for an amp. It just feel like they can handle a lot more power and could be louder. They do not distort when the volume is too loud but if the sound setting is not configured properly the sound quality might be poor (sound quality is subjective). This could be said for all speakers that are not configured the right way.
Overall, I am extremely happy with this speakers. I am not a teenager so loud bass is not in me any more. Plus I had a system with a large sub on my RX-8 and it was more headaches than what it was worth and less space in my trunk. I might upgrade the front speakers with Infinity but I still got the stock speakers which are going strong. If anything a 8" sub should take care of the missing deep bass.
If your upgrading from stock then this are perfect but note that stock head unit will not do any justice. At least upgrade to a quality aftermarket head unit and these speakers will do just fine. However, if your trying to upgrade from an already good sound system with a good brand then stick with the brand that you know has not failed you. Usually, when changing speakers or amps you might be missing that something special that made the previous system good. If your not happy with the current set up then these will not disappoint.
